Every season, the goal is for a team to peak when sectionals come around, and that is exactly what the 2018 PCRHS Wolves pulled off. In a magnificent effort, the Wolves were a match for the Central Christian Chargers. Goalkeeper Isaiah Kimp came up with 12 saves and made numerous plays on long balls over the defenders, helping both them and himself to avoid greater threats. The defenders, captain Luis Campos, junior Jason Hernandez, and freshmen Emanuel Najera and Nefthali Castaneda denied and chased down nearly every attempt made by the Chargers at breakaways and goal-scoring opportunities. The Chargers only goal was scored off a free kick after a reflexive hand ball just outside the penalty area. The Wolves’ best scoring opportunities came from sophomore midfielder Jackie Guerrero who got 3 shots. The first was a breakaway opportunity that forced the sweeper to chase her down and disrupt her at the last second. The second was off a beautiful cross from junior midfielder Alberto Najera. Luis Campos also created some great opportunities dribbling and combining from the back through the middle of the field. In the end, an incredible effort from a team that gave everything for 80 minutes. The coaching staff would like to thank the fans who stayed out late to watch the entire delayed match and the seniors who contributed to another great season – #16 Jay’lon Jones, #18 Jose Juan, #23 Bouvier Bernard, #24 Jason Hernandez-Cruz, #28 Kareem Moran, and #29 Armando Castaneda and managers Albert Castellanos and Arizbeth Munive-Flores.
